12/17/2014 – Vinzant Software announces release GECS Version 4.6
Vinzant Software announced the release of GECS version 4.6 today. Some of the major enhancements include a new SAP job type, rescheduling based from the batch detail information, job templates, direct support for SQL Server® and Oracle® job types and improved email support. There have also been many enhancements to the browser-based clients.

04/10/2014 - OpenSSL Heartbleed Bug Does Not Affect Global ECS
The recently announced Heartbleed bug doesn't affect Global ECS. The only GECS component that uses OpenSSL is the Web Manager and it needs to be manually configured to do so. GECS uses v0.9.8 of OpenSSL which does not contain the bug that was introduced in v1.0.1

2/7/2007 - Preparing for Daylight Savings Time 2007
In August of 2005 the United States Congress passed the Energy Policy Act, which changes the dates of both the start and end of daylight saving time (DST). When this law goes into effect in 2007, DST will start three weeks earlier (2:00 A.M. on the second Sunday in March) and will end one week later (2:00 A.M. on the first Sunday in November) than what had traditionally occurred. More>>

01/10/2007 – Major GECS v4.0 Enhancements Announced
Today Vinzant Software announced the three major enhancements included in GECS v4.0. GECS v4.0 will include: ODBC support so you can use a SQL database for GECS, MS Active Directory support and real-time graphical job views. It is on target for a Q2 2007 release. The GECS v4.0 Beta Program will be announced soon.

Job Simulate 06/09
It is possible to 'simulate' the run of a job. When a job is simulated, the system acts as though the job actually ran, except that the command line isn't actually executed.

Moving Batches Between Environments – 02/07
At some point you may need to move batches from one system to another—for instance, from your QA/Dev environment to your production environment. Run One Job that Schedules a Batch Containing 50 Jobs – 01/07
It may be necessary to gather 50 jobs into one because of dependencies and sequences, because of On Demand jobs, or in order to simplify views. The command line utility named GECSBATS.EXE can be used to schedule a batch of jobs in the background via a command line or GECS job. More>>
